Meeting the Needs of the Manufacturing Industry

While the Wyoming manufacturing industry employs fewer than 20,000 people in the state, it is a small but vibrant sector. Sensing that the sector lacked a shared avenue for addressing needs and articulating issues and solutions with one voice, a manufacturing focused nonprofit with national ties decided in 2010 to convene private employers and other stakeholders to create such a forum, particularly related to the industry’s well documented skills gap.

Case Study: Sacramento Energy Sector Partnership

The Sacramento Employment and Training Agency (SETA) received funding through the State Energy Sector Partnership and Training Grant (SESP) to build a sector strategy approach to addressing the region’s emerging clean energy workforce needs.

Case Study - Water Industry Cluster at the International Center for Water Technology

The International Center for Water Technology was established at California State University, Fresno, to provide education and research to assist in developing and adopting innovative solutions and technologies that improve water use efficiency. The program’s broad mandate includes water supply and quality; flood protection; and environmental enhancement. Activities focus on extended education, laboratory and field research, and policy development.

Case Study - Southern California Water Industry Cluster

The Southern California Water Industry Cluster is an effort to stimulate the growth of the region’s water efficiency industries by growing companies, increasing jobs, and improving water conservation and efficiency in the region at the same time. This endeavor is being undertaken as a partnership between the Los Angeles Water Efficiency Workforce Development Program and the So Cal Green Growth Initiative, with additional partners being sought.

Case Study - Smart Energy Initiative

The Smart Energy Initiative (SEI) was launched in 2007 by the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC) in Southeastern Pennsylvania.  CCEDC had run a very successful industry partnership in information technology since 1999, and had extended that model to other industries following Pennsylvania’s promotion and funding of industry partnerships statewide.
